Our Administration/Office
Lance Robins- Principal
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction to you as the Principal of Heritage Elementary School. I am truly honored to be a part of this school community with the best staff, parents, families, and students in the valley. This truly is the place to be! Heritage is a place where strong connections are made between home, school, and our community. I am so very excited to be a part of this school community and look forward to educating the students that attend our school.
Here is a little information about some of my educational background. Desiring to help others, I explored the option of becoming a teacher and enrolled at a local University. I soon graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Majoring in Microbiology and minoring in Chemistry. While at WSU I also earn a Teaching Certificate with a Biology Composite with an ESL endorsement. I later earned my Masters' degree at Grand Canyon University which I enjoyed immensely. Motivated by my positive teaching experiences I pursued and received an Administrative/Supervisory Certificate at Utah State University. This allowed me to have administrative experiences at Spring Creek Middle School, Mountainside Elementary School, South Cache Middle School, and now Heritage Elementary School.
However, it may be more important for you to know that I am the parent of five children and married to a wonderful woman that is also a teacher. My wife and I have children that range from 14 years to 27 years in age and we have come to understand the challenges and rewards of being a parent. I ensure you all that I want what’s best for “our” children and I will work with parents, staff, and community to ensure our children have the best educational experience Cache has to offer.
I also want to build strong relationships with students, teachers, parents, and other educational stakeholders at Heritage Elementary School. You’ll find me in the hallways, classrooms, outside at recess, and various other special activities working with our students. My passion has been and always will be educating students. With that in mind, you can expect that I will work diligently with our teachers and staff to make sure our students are engaged, challenged, and cared for at Heritage. I have an open door policy and welcome your visit. I look forward to working with your student(s) and getting to know them in this upcoming school year. Thank you all for your support, kindness, and care you have shown.

Hot Shot- Heritage Mascot
I was born in Alaska to a family of dog mushers. I learned how to dog mush from a very young age and we train year round. Our family dates back to dog mushing as far back as 1732! We used to be used for transportation and mail delivery across Alaska and the US Army even used us for search and rescue missions in remote areas. We respond to our trainers with voice commands and we are considered “family” with our humans because we are extremely loyal. I love to eat! And while we are training and racing, we will eat up to 10,000 calories a day! Some of my teammates are different types of dogs such as Alaskan Malamutes, Siberian Huskies, and Eskimo dogs. Every year in March, we compete in the famous Iditarod race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska covering over 1,100 miles. We race in a team of 12-16 dogs, and race for about 10 days, stopping only to eat and rest. Because of my racing background, I love to participate in the Heritage Walk-a-Thon and help encourage our Heritage Huskies get to and from school safely. I also like to participate in Husky Habits teaching our students great ways to respect our school. Please take a look at my Safety Tips and Husky Habits links below. I love being a Heritage Husky!

Brian Heinsohn- Student Support Leader
My name is Brian Heinsohn. For the past 16 years, I have been deeply passionate about the field of education, dedicating myself to supporting student learning and instructional growth in various ways. Over the years, I’ve served in a variety of roles—from classroom teacher to Math Facilitator to RTI Facilitator—and now I’m honored to support both instruction and operations across our school. I work closely with teachers, paraeducators, and administrators to strengthen instruction, coordinate Tier II interventions, and ensure every student has the support they need to succeed.
I hold a B.S. in Elementary Education and an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction, along with endorsements in Elementary Math and Elementary Mathematics Specialist. These experiences have shaped how I approach instructional leadership, emphasizing data-informed decisions, evidence-based practices, and collaborative problem-solving. Whether I’m supporting teachers, consulting on instructional planning, or helping organize testing schedules, I’m always working to build capacity and foster growth across our school community.
One of my favorite parts of this role is helping teams respond to student data in real time—adjusting reading groups, refining interventions, and ensuring our systems remain adaptive and student-centered.
At the heart of it all, I believe in creating a school culture that’s inclusive, collaborative, and focused on continuous improvement. I’m grateful to be part of a team that puts students first and works together to make learning meaningful for everyone.

Mandy Gordon- 3rd Grade DLI English Teacher
I grew up in Texas, but have lived in Utah since graduating high school 2006. I love both places very much! The best things about Texas are the BBQ and the people. The best things about Utah are the weather (during the fall and summer) and the people. I live in Providence with my husband, Dan, and our four kids: Kara, Rosie, Nick, and Maya. We also have two sweet dogs named Stevie and Gwen.
I first taught third grade in Mendon for four years. This will be my eighth year teaching the English side of the Spanish Dual Immersion program at Heritage. One of the best things in my daily life is getting to teach and get to know my sweet students! It's always hard to send them on to fourth grade. Please contact me with anything you need. I will always be happy to help you.

Michael Rollins- 4th Grade Teacher
I began my teaching career 30 years ago in 1995. I taught 4th, 5th, and 8th grade for 12 years in California--most of that time I taught 4th and 5th grade. We moved to Cache County in 2007, and I've been teaching 4th grade ever since. In Utah, I first taught at Summit Elementary School for 3 years, and then I moved over to Heritage Elementary when it was built, and have been here ever since. I am happily married to a wonderful wife who is also an educator, and I have 5 children that range in ages from 28 down to 18---3 boys and 2 girls. In my own family where I grew up, I am the youngest of 3 boys. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing students have that “a-ha” moment when they learn a new concept!

Mary Knight- 5th Grade Teacher
I moved to Cache Valley from California about 11 years ago, and I love seeing the mountains every day as well as experiencing spring, summer, fall, and winter. I enjoy the snow and cold just as much as the warm summers - when you might find me on a long walk around town or hiking on a canyon trail. I have 3 adult children who I love to spend time with, but it’s challenging because one lives in Arizona, one lives in Louisiana and one teaches 5th grade in California. When our family is all together, we like to play board games, read, talk about everything, laugh a lot, eat great food, go on hikes, and enjoy being outdoors in God’s beautiful creation. My one and only grandson lives in Phoenix, so if I'm absent one day, that's probably where I am!
I find great joy in working with my students at Heritage and love to watch as they invest in one another, solve problems together, and discover how to be better people. Fifth grade offers a unique opportunity to learn about what makes America special. It is a year of big changes physically, socially, and emotionally, so we practice extending grace and kindness and never give up on each other.

Becky Cowley- 6th Grade Teacher
Hello! My name is Becky Cowley, and I’m thrilled to be teaching 6th grade at Heritage Elementary! I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Utah State University, with endorsements in Level 2 Math and Science.
Originally from Brigham City, I’ve spent most of my adult life in beautiful Cache Valley with my husband of 25 years and our high school-aged son. In my free time, I love being outdoors with my family—whether we’re camping, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, or snowshoeing. When we're indoors, you can usually find us enjoying a good board game or building Legos together. I also love to read, paint, and craft.
In my classroom, I strive to create an environment where students feel safe to make and learn from their mistakes. I believe in fostering a growth mindset by focusing on effort, perseverance, and the power of yet. One of my favorite quotes comes from Albert Einstein: “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.”

Twelve years ago, my family and I moved to Cache Valley from Colorado Springs, CO, where I worked for 5 years as a 3rd grade teacher and 3 years as a 4th grade teacher at Sand Creek Elementary. I have 2 amazing children named Cylas and Aurora. My teaching passion has always been writing and finding ways to show my students the magic of self-expression through using their words. I love encouraging my students to find ways to save the planet, spread kindness, value hard work, and academic achievement, and actively participate in the unique community that will be our classroom. In the past, I have traveled to several countries, including Argentina, Belize, Panama, Ecuador, Paraguay, and Costa Rica, often to volunteer my time and labor to environmental conservation efforts. I am a very healthy eater, enjoying almost every type of vegetable and fruit, and love both practicing and teaching yoga. I currently teach yoga at the rock climbing gym in Logan and in the past have taught kids yoga classes as well as a yoga camp for youth. My other favorite hobbies include reading, writing, gardening, rock climbing, and laughing, though my all-time favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. I am excited about having a spectacular year this upcoming year, the year after that, and the year after that.....

I have taught elementary school for 27 years (OMG I’m so old!) in grades 3-6. I have taught 6th grade for 13 years, and it is my favorite grade. I am a Cache Valley transplant and don’t ever want to leave. I was born in Tacoma, Washington but have lived in Washington, California, Illinois, Florida, and now Utah. My dad was an airline pilot while I was growing up, so we got to visit many amazing places. I love to travel, and have been to Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Costa Rica, England, Spain, France, and Italy. My family lives all over the country so I visit Texas, Wyoming, Maine, and Georgia a lot. We love to play games, put together puzzles, ride dirt bikes, watch anything Star Wars related, and go swimming. I play the piano and organ, and love all kinds of music. My music playlists are always being added to, but really I love 80’s music. This will be my seventh year teaching 6th grade at Heritage Elementary.

Maria Jones- 6th Grade DLI Español Teacher
I was born in Provo, Utah and moved to Peru when I was three years old, and lived there for 14 years. I was able to meet my grandparents and relatives as well as travel to many areas and learn about different cultural traditions. I loved living 30 minutes from the beach but I've learned to love the mountains too.
While living in Washington state, I worked as a para educator in different grades (Preschool, K, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th) and also had experience with Spanish DLI in the younger grades. I was an interpreter/translator for the Logan School District for 10 years.
I love teaching in Spanish and being able to share my culture and traditions with my students. My passion to teach comes from wanting to help my students contribute to society and prepare them for the future while we enjoy the present and its lessons. I love to teach science and one way to engage my students is to do experiments and projects where they can connect what they learn to their everyday use. Throughout the year, I encourage my students to be leaders, to be kind, to learn from their mistakes, to move forward, and to give their best.

It inspires confidence, builds connection, and helps us feel less alone. I love helping children discover the joy that music can bring.
I’ve loved piano and voice for as long as I can remember. I started playing piano when I was 9 years old and have taught for over 25 years. Trina Jackson
SEM Specialist
Hello! My name is Trina Jackson! I am originally from Davis County and moved to Cache Valley with my husband 26 years ago to attend college. We fell in love with the valley and decided it was the perfect place for us to raise our family. I have three children and one son-in-law: Josie (Cougar), Carter, and Avri, and I will be a first-time grandma in September! I earned a Bachelor's Degree in English with an emphasis in Literary Studies from Utah State University, and I started out at Heritage as a Reading Aid in 2011. In 2018 I became an SEM Specialist and started teaching SEM at Millville Elementary, Mountainside Elementary, and Canyon Elementary. In 2020, I was invited to come back to Heritage and was so excited to be back at this awesome school! I love my job, and I love my students!

I have been working at Heritage since it opened in 2010, and I love working here! I work with students from kindergarten through 6th grade. I graduated from USU with my Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2009. I maintain my Certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). I was born and raised in Southern California. I moved to Logan in 2005 to attend USU, got married in 2008, and now have 2 wonderful sons who also attend Heritage. I can frequently be seen drinking Diet Coke.

Brinlee Wolley- Speech Language Technician
Hi, I'm Brinlee! I graduated with my degree in communicative disorders from Utah State University in 2023 and have been working with speech students in the district since. Outside of school, I love boating, teaching dance part-time, and playing with my puppy. I can't wait to work with the speech students at Heritage another year!
